Several Notable Chess Grandmasters were born on this day:
Lev Aronin – A Soviet International Master and a professional meteorologist. He competed in eight USSR Chess Championships, achieving his best result in 1950 by tying for 2nd–4th places. Aronin was known for his positional style and was a leading practitioner of the King's Indian Defence during its development in the 1940s. Despite his strong performances, he never had the opportunity to compete internationally as an individual.

Paul Motwani – A Scottish Grandmaster and the first Scottish player to achieve this title. He has won the Scottish Chess Championship multiple times and is also known for his writings on chess, contributing articles and books that have been well-received in the chess community. Michel Caillaud – A French chess problemist and Grandmaster in chess composition.
